The FireWise Recognition Programme serves to acknowledge FireWise Communities compliant with the following criteria:
- Formed a FireWise Committee
- Conducted an Assessment of their area
- Drawn up a Fire Management Plan
- Held a FireWise Day
The Recognition Progamme builds on the current FireWise Communities concept, putting guidelines in place for registration and recognition. With this process, communities receive validation for their voluntary work and the programme is able to monitor and evaluate their progress on an annual basis. On completion of a successful application, the community will receive a FireWise plaque to display at entrance points to the area.
